Some people have never had swiss chard yet it is in almost every grocery store now. Swiss Chard is a delicious dark green that is versatile and holds ups to cooking.
It can be used in soups, stews or simply sauteed like this recipe. When you are tired of the same old side dish reach in to your pocket and pull this recipe out. You’ll be glad you did.
It’s a great source of vitamins K, A and C, as well as a good source of magnesium, potassium, iron and dietary fiber!
This recipe is simple and here is what you’ll need:
- 2 bundles of swiss chard
- 1 medium onion halved and sliced
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 TBS all purpose seasoning no salt
- 1/2 cup white wine
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- Olive oil
Instructions: cut the stem off the leaves of the swiss chard then slice the chard into 1 inch slices.
Next slice the onion and mince the garlic and set aside
Heat a non stick sauté pan over medium high heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Add the onion and a little salt. Saute onion until it browns a little
Next add the swiss chard
Next add the white wine and it will steam the chard. As it steams slowly and carefully toss with a set of tongs. Once the chard starts to cook down add the all purpose seasoning and salt and pepper to your liking!
Boom! Thats all it takes to whip up this tasty side dish. Serves two to three. Only around 30 calories per serving!
