Grilled burger on a bun with cheese

Tasty Steak Burger

This is my go to burger mix that is quick, simple and easy for anyone to throw together. This burger mix does well on a grill or in a cast iron skillet basted with a little butter.

Burgers like any type of sandwich on a bun is very versatile.  By adding different spices and condiments you can make this into any style of food. Everything from Mexican, Greek or even Italian by just making a few changes to your spice mix and toppings.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1.35 pounds Organic Kirkland 80/20 ground beef package
  • 2 tsp AP Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp Buc-ees Steak & Chop Rub
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 slices Habanero pepperjack cheese
  • 1 Gluten Free Schar Hamburger bun
  • everything spice
  • Tomato, lettuce, onion pickle for garnish

Instructions

In a glass bowl add the beef and loosen with a fork.

Add all the spices and Worcestershire sauce.

Mix beef thoroughly till beef is fluffy and not packed. I use a spoon to stir and not my hands so I don’t over pack the beef mix.

Form into 4 individual patties but avoid over pressing the meat. The more to compact the meat the tougher it will be.

Grill to your desired liking or sear in a cast iron skillet.

For the bun:

slice bun in half and brush with a little olive oil on the cut sides and top of the bun.

Sprinkle with everything spice or sesame seeds or dried onions. Bake in the oven or grill until golden brown.

Top with your favorite cheese and condiments

Notes

You can use any type of bun for this recipe including your favorite gluten free bun if you have a sensitivity to gluten.
