Bourbon Hemingway
Who doesn’t love a good cocktail? Especially one that is refreshing on a hot summer day or also enjoyed with dinner with grilled meats such as steak, pork or even BBQ Chicken. I love this Bourbon Hemingway with my Tasty Steak Burger recipe. This refreshing Bourbon Hemingway is great when shared with other bourbon lovers or when introducing someone to bourbon.
I am more of a bourbon purist and don’t enjoy it mixed too often but this drink found its way into my recipe book because of a genuinely good blend of flavors. Everything in it complements the bourbon and doesn’t take away from it which is why I like it so much.
If you’re a bourbon fan give this drink a try. I think you will love it just as much as I do.
You will need the following for this recipe, and you may already have most of them:
Bourbon! I used Cooper’s Craft Reserve for this recipe, but you what you like best. If you know me, I’m kind of a bourbon purest which to me means Neat or an ice cube depending on which bourbon it is. I wouldn’t mix a very high end bourbon such as Pappy Van Winkle but definitely a good mid level one. Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, Russel’s or even Bulliett are great one’s to try.
Luxardo Cherry Liqueur, simple syrup, grapefruit juice, Lime Juice and a peel of grapefruit for garnish and if you want to really impress your guests add a Luxardo marinated Cherry too. Enjoy this refreshing cocktail but be careful, they go down easy! Cheers!
PrintThe Bourbon Hemingway Cocktail
A delicious summer cocktail made with a mix of bourbon, simple syrup, Luxardo Liqueur, lime and grapefruit juices. It’s very refreshing especially on a patio in the early evening or with a nice meal hot off the grill. This drink is especially good paired with grilled meats such as beef, pork or BBQ chicken.
- Total Time: 5 minutes
- Yield: 1 1x
Ingredients
1 1/4 oz Bourbon (I used Coopers Craft Reserve)
1/2 oz Luxardo Cherry Liqueur
1/2 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
grapefruit peel for garnish and/or a Luxardo marinated cherry
Instructions
Place a handfull of ice cubed into a cocktail shaker and place all ingredients except the garnish into the shaker. Shake vigorously for 15 second. Pour over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with peel and/or cherry and enjoy!
Notes
You can use any bourbon you like but I would make it with a good average priced bourbon. Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, Bulliett or even a good Rye would work for this drink.
